Where the mind leads, the body can follow

I learnt a long time ago, if my mind says I can't do something my body can't do it. There is no such thing as can't. It is two words, can and not.

In anything you need to be positive, I can do it. You also need to be present with it. Not I will be able to do it when I've been shown. Find out how, and you CAN do it now.

Make a list of the things you can do well, any thing can be on it and it should read something like I make wonderful salads, I can sing in tune, I am brilliant at karate kata's. Try to list at least five things. Then add to the list at least once a week. Have another list of all the nice things people have said about you. It should read something like my sensei says my karate is improving, my friend says I am always smiling.

By the end of the week or the month you will have a lot of positives that you CAN do. Look at the great Mohamed Ali. He won his fights before ever getting in the boxing ring. In as many words, he told everyone he would win that he was the best and everyone else is rubish. In his mind he was holding the winner's purse, so his body just followed.

This philosophy can be carried into anything you do, the world likes confident people, confident people CAN do things, confident people win.

Remember you CAN ALWAYS DO WHAT YOUR MIND TELLS YOU TO DO.

In Chinese philosiphy this is described as no yi (thought, will or intent) no chi (ability or energy).

Make your karate mantra I can and I will.
