Saving special signatures

Probably the best example of signature stitching I've seen.

If you have a gi or belt that holds special autographs; perhaps from Kancho or Shihan, you'll want to protect it so that it last forever. Even permanent marker will eventually fade under the onslaught of the bleach used to keep your whites, white, so one popular solution is to go over the top of the autograph using thick embroidery yarn. If your sewing machine has an embroidery setting then you can use that, but most likely, you'll need to do the job by hand. You may want to go over each line a couple of times so that the signatures are clear to see.

When your gi eventually wears out, you can either save the whole thing, or cut out and frame the panel of cloth containing the signatures.
